Cardinal Music Group

Lead by Ball State professor, Dan Porter, Cardinal Music Group works closely with Indiana-based non-profits, Ball State ensembles, and other local performers. Whether it’s setting up and producing a livestream, recording and producing a live music video, or creating a podcast episode, we strive to create quality content for our clients. Music Videos and Live-Streaming

During my time in CMG, we worked extremely hard to create a “default” setup for livestreams and music video shoots in our largest studio space at Ball State. Even though I mainly served as the lead audio engineer, I was trained to set up microphones, monitors, lighting, cameras, and operate a livestream. In the Spring of 2022, we were lucky enough to work with the Ball State Studio Band to create a live-streamed showcase of their work, as well as multiple live music videos. Since there aren’t many people on staff, we work extremely hard to provide quality audio and video with very little post-production/a quick turnaround time. I have created multiple input lists, as well as a document detailing the setup and teardown procedure that can be passed on, edited, and added to for years to come.

 Tonic Ball 2021

Every year, Eskenazi Health hosts a benefit concert called Tonic Ball to raise money for Second Helpings. In the fall of 2021 Cardinal Music Group volunteered at Tonic Ball 20, which needed to be live-streamed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We helped set up and tear down the stage, audio equipment, video equipment, livestream equipment, and decorations. Additionally, many of us were tasked with operating cameras, assisting the audio and video engineers, and organizing the the headsets during the livestream. You can see what our hard work helped create by watching the recording of the livestream below!
